Best Kept Village 2026

Burnham has enjoyed a long and proud history of success in the Best Kept Village competition. Most recently, in 2024, we were awarded the Pushman Cup for the best larger rural village.
Our dedicated Groundsmen, Tom and Barry, are pictured proudly holding the trophy shortly after the presentation ceremony.
Our previous achievements include:
-
1997 - Dashwood Trophy (best runner-up across all categories)
-
2001 - Michaelis Cup (small towns category winner)
-
2019 - Pushman Cup (large rural villages category winner)
In addition to these wins, Burnham has consistently performed at a high level.
We were runners-up for the Pushman Cup in 2018 and 2023, and in 2022 we were runner-up in the Tindall Cup the ‘Champions Trophy’ awarded to the previous year’s category winners.
While our Grounds Team work tirelessly throughout the year, our success is very much a community effort. Residents and local groups play a vital role in helping Burnham look its best by:
-
Taking part in regular litter-picks, whether organised by the Council, community groups, or individuals
-
Showing care and respect when using our green and shared spaces
-
Supporting our Memorial Bench and Memorial Tree schemes
-
Raising awareness of the competition among friends and neighbours
-
Getting involved in local environmental and improvement initiatives
Recent projects in 2025–26 have included enhancements to the Knowledge Stream at St Peter’s, the ongoing work of the Friends of the Pond and Pond Working Group, and the restoration of the iconic red phone box at Littleworth Common.
We are also incredibly grateful to our many community partners who help make these achievements possible. These include The Burnham Foundation, Friends of the Pond, St Peter’s Church, the South East Bucks Community Board, the North East Burnham Residents Association (NEBRA), Burnham Men’s Shed, and many others.
Together, these combined efforts help ensure that Burnham remains a village we can all be proud of.
