Assistant Hall Manager
Full-time 37 hours per week, permanent.
Salary Scale SCP 18-23 – (£31,537-£34,434)*
* Actual starting point dependant on skills and experience.
An annual pay award for 2026-27 is pending and would be backdated to start of employment.

Application deadline: Noon, Thursday 30th April 2026.
It is planned to shortlist on Friday 1st May, and to notify shortlisted candidates on that day. Interviews are provisionally scheduled for Friday 8th May (tbc).
Burnham Parish Council is seeking an organised and resourceful team player to help drive the management and development of Burnham Park Hall.
Burnham Parish Council comprises 19 councillors, around 25 full-time, part-time and zero-hours staff, and a total budget of around £1million. The council is ambitious for the future, and keen to further develop its flagship asset of Burnham Park Hall.
Purpose of role
This post would assist the Hall General Manager in managing Burnham Park Hall.
There will be some flexibility in the role based on the evolving needs of the hall, as well as the strengths of the successful candidate and how these complement the rest of the team. However, it is anticipated that the postholder would take particular responsibility for front-of-house operations including the hall reception, and for bookings, hospitality and events. In addition, they would support the Hall Manager as required, showing flexibility and adaptability, and would deputise day-to-day in her absence.
It is anticipated that for approximately three-quarters of their working hours the postholder would be based on reception, carrying out their work whilst providing the first line of contact for the hall and council.
Whilst the postholder would report directly to the Hall Manager, and would work closely with other hall staff, they would also work with other Council staff and with Councillors on specific matters.
The postholder must have experience of supervision or management, ideally within a hospitality environment. They must be well organised, resourceful, able to work well both individually and in a team, and a good communicator. The role would suit someone looking to progress to a full manager role within the next few years.
A full job description and person specification is enclosed with this advertisement.
Please note: if a promising candidate is identified in the recruitment process who does not yet meet the full criteria for Assistant Manager, but has the potential to grow into this role within 2-3 years, the Council reserves the right to appoint at a Supervisor grade and salary. The candidate would then be supported to develop into becoming the Assistant Manager with increase in grade and salary.
