Cllr John Carey

Biography: I have lived on Eastfield Road, Lent Rise, with my family since 1988. I became involved in the local community immediately, joining the Burnham and Hitcham Scout Groups as a leader. I later became Group Scout Leader for Lent Rise and Dorney. This inspired me to become a parish councillor. I also have wider experience in school governance at both primary and secondary level; most recently, my focus has been on the wellbeing of Burnham children who have moved to schools in Bourne End and elsewhere.
I am extremely aware of the issues we face regarding the volume of traffic and speeding in our ward, which we are working with Buckinghamshire Council to address. I have a strong interest in the Council's climate emergency objectives, which we are working to achieve by 2030. I am particularly interested in planning and development across the parish. I am also a Mental Health First Aider, supporting both young people and the elderly through a local charity.
Committee Membership: Burnham Park Management Committee; Planning Committee; Recreation & Amenities Committee; Policy & Resources Committee; Staffing Committee; Vice-Chair of the Council and The Eco Working Group.
Membership of Outside Bodies: South Bucks Association of Local Councils; Trustee of Care & Share; Trustee of The Well at Lent Rise; member of St Peter's PCC and an ambassador for the Child Trust Fund.
