Resident since 1973, I am a dyed-in-the-wool local. I live in the High Street and am minutely integrated into Burnham life having grown up here, brought up my own children here, and now care for my elderly parents here.
I’m a former COO of a large public sector organisation, and prior to this I worked for 20+ years delivering various large-scale decarbonisation, innovation & business development strategies for syndicates made up of businesses, local authorities and government.
I am an environmentalist by trade and passionate about protecting the natural environment, through localised action, decarbonisation, and transition to the circular economy. I’m also a Project Management and Change Management specialist in these matters.
I’m rejoining BPC after a long hiatus and I hope to bring my experience, skills and interests to serve the local community, whether it’s carers and vulnerable elderly care, mental health support or environmental issues.
I will scrutinise the work of various Bucks services on behalf of Burnham residents, attending meetings and joining Boards where possible. The decisions they make and their impact on the lives of Burnham residents is often not understood, and I will proactively communicate this locally. With many Bucks services centralised in Aylesbury, Burnham can be overlooked and its residents disenfranchised.
I would also like to gauge the appetite for community action on a large scale for ambitious environmental projects – for example, could Burnham become the UK’s first Circular Society?
I’ll also join the multi-agency efforts required to reverse the increasing frequency of crime and antisocial behaviour in & around Burnham. Worst at night with activities we wouldn’t tolerate for a moment if they happened in daylight, we can scotch it with community awareness and action.
A last thing about me – you might know me as Burnham Bees. I keep an aviary here in my back garden and I’m a passionate advocate for all kinds of bugs, especially winged pollinators. I also keep chickens which you’ll hear singing their egg song if you listen carefully while in the High Street.
