Biography: I have lived in Burnham for over 30 years, and have been a Parish Councillor since 2005.
I grew up in London and trained as a Fashion Designer at Harrow School of Art, (now University of
Westminster) and took a Post Graduate course at the London College of Fashion, specialising in
lingerie and nightwear, working in the East End and Oxford Street. I also spent a while working at
Bermans and Nathans Theatrical Costumiers, working on the Bond films. I am also a trained
artist.
Before I became a councillor, I headed a local campaign to successfully stop development on The
Green, and consequently we helped save future development on our precious green and open
spaces. This inspired my passion for the future protection of planning within our village from grass
roots level. I have been on the Planning Committee constantly since I became a Councillor in
2005; I became Vice Chair and then Chair of Planning since 2019. I was also Vice Chair of
Burnham Parish Council from 2017 and finally became Chairman of Burnham Parish Council in
2020. I have been told that as I am the longest serving Councillor and have served constantly for
over twenty years; I am now ‘Mother of Burnham Parish Council’.
I care about the general well being of our community and consequently became an Ambassador
for Burnham Park Academy before its closure in 2019. I am supporting the group that are actively
working to campaign for a new school on the site; Burnham must have a high quality Secondary
School for our children within walking distance.
As part of my continuing passion for Burnham remaining semi-rural with green open spaces, I
have been a member of the Neighbourhood Plan group since 2018, for the future development
and protection of our green belt and preservation areas. When completed this will ensure our local
say in the infrastructure of our neighbourhood.
I have been an active member of the TNT group, the Chairs of the parishes of Taplow, Dorney and
Burnham against the possible development of a new town at Taplow. We have, with the
professional input of local professionals, written a letter to Sir Michael Lyons, Chairman of the
New Town Task Force, pointing out the catastrophic effect and extremely high resources that
would be needed to alter the infrastructure of our local area. Maidenhead to Slough would
become one urban sprawl and all the parishes shall lose their unique identity.
I have also been a member of Burnham Tennis Association for over 30 years, and was a tennis
captain for nearly twenty years and support active sport for all ages. I am a Chair of the Burnham
Heritage Society, finding and preserving the history of our village, with the long term vision of a
Burnham Museum. I am also an active member supporting May’s Chocolate House in hopefully
becoming a community shop and hub, for the good of all villagers, enriching everyone’s lives.
I love Burnham, especially the wonderful residents and many volunteers that keep Burnham the
lively, bustling, forward looking community it is.
