Burnham Parish Council Plans: have your say!

Burnham Parish Council has drafted a Council Strategy for the next four years, focusing on projects for the benefit of Burnham residents, both present and future. The plan focuses on five themes:

1.      Community safety and crime reduction

The Council will work with those, such as the police, who have the direct responsibility for tackling crime, but will also take its own actions to promote safety and crime reduction in the community and within Parish facilities (e.g. CCTV, Burnham Park lighting, highways safety initiatives etc).

2.    A pleasant and sustainable environment

The Council is committed to environmental sustainability, and prioritising projects with an ‘eco benefit’. We are committed to making our operations ever more sustainable and environmentally friendly, whilst undertaking new projects to enhance Burnham’s environment (e.g. Lent Green Lane pond, hanging baskets, wildflower etc).

3.    A high level of services

The Council already offers a high level of services, especially around leisure and green spaces, street furniture and public conveniences; and we are determined to both maintain and enhance this offer, including introducing new services where feasible and there is demand (e.g. green spaces, footpaths, the war memorial, play areas, street furniture, GPMG etc).

4.    Planning for the future

It is clear from national priorities that the coming years will be a time of significant planning development, some of which will fall on Burnham. We are determined to ensure that development is as suitable as possible for the area, incorporates good design, and protects local heritage and services (e.g. campaigning for a new school, village centre regeneration, Neighbourhood Plan, lobbying Bucks Council over their planning policies etc).

5.    A community hub

Burnham Park Hall, which has its own strategic plan, is a vital community hub as well as the base of the Parish Council. We will continue to develop the hall as a community hub in line with our hall values: 1. A part of our community; 2. An inclusive and accessible space; and 3. A sustainable facility. (e.g. developing our hall communications, redecorating rooms, holding more events etc).

The plan explains in detail what the Council plans to do on each og these these themes, especially over the next year.

You can find a full copy of the draft plan on our website - https://www.burnhamparish.gov.uk/. If you have any comments or suggestions on the plan, please email our Clerk, Adam Killeya, on clerk@burnhamparish.gov.uk by noon on Monday 1st December. The Council intends to review and adopt the plan, taking any comments into account, at its December meeting.
