We are pleased to report that the tree work at the Pond was carried out successfully yesterday, and the ducks are out in force today!
The Parish Council officially takes over management of the Pond of 1st April, but we have been hard at work for some months planning and preparing for this.
The tree work was carefully planned and agreed with tree experts, and with our Pond Working Group made up of residents, wildlife and pond experts, community organisations, and the Council. The Friends of the Pond, representing residents close to the pond, were very active and involved in this process. The aim was very much to conserve and enhance what is already at the pond, for the benefit of wildlife and the enjoyment of residents and other members of the public.
The Pond Working Group has met again today to update on the next stages, which will include two benches provided by kind local sponsors, an information board funded by the South East Bucks community board, safety information and equipment, additional litter bins, and hopefully a machine providing nutritious duck food! It is hoped that this will all go in over the next 1-2 months.
We are also planning an 'official reopening' for June, which will include kids activities and the unveiling of the information board. More information will be posted about this later.
